Top Marks for G&H Group in Considerate Constructors Scheme Review
G&H Group has been rated ‘excellent’ following an independent review by the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) in which the Pudsey-based firm secured a perfect score of 45.
The market leading mechanical, electrical and public health service (MEP) provider received 15 out of 15 marks in each category – construction work respecting the community, caring for the environment and valuing the workforce – to be awarded the highest possible score and an ‘excellent’ rating. It is the second consecutive review by the CCS where G&H Group has secured full marks.
CCS, which aims to raise standards in the construction industry by ensuring contractors are responsibly carrying out builds through an independent and rigorous monitoring process, applauded G&H Group for engaging the services of a social values consultant to develop and implement a comprehensive social values strategy. Staff were also recognised for raising over £20,000 for local charities.
G&H Group’s plans for the development of a roadmap to net zero were praised in the report, as was its sustainability commitment and focus on carbon reduction; notably energy-saving features within the office and EV charging points for company vehicles and visitors.
The safety and well-being of the workforce was cited in the report as being a top priority and welfare facilities for employees were praised for being first class. In addition, the G&H Group Training Academy was commended for providing opportunities for apprentices and students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and encouraging construction as a career choice.
Phil Power, scheme monitor from CCS said: “During my visit and assessment I could clearly see that G&H Group is focused on achieving excellent results in the Considerate Constructors Scheme. What was evident is that the company is listening to contractors prequalification requirements and has addressed them. Across all areas – community, environment and workforce – G&H Group has continued to invest and implement strategies with clear objectives, and this has resulted in them achieving excellent results for the second time.”
G&H Group’s chairman Graham Kelly said: “As a company we are focused on supporting and investing in our colleagues, the community and the environment. To be highly praised and recognised as excellent in all these areas by the CCS report for a second time in a row is an incredible achievement.
“We strive to work in an exemplary manner, prioritising our colleagues’ safety and wellbeing, creating opportunities for young people, always aiming to find solutions and ways for both clients and our organisation to reach net zero targets.”
