Specialist dementia care facility featuring bespoke MEP services handed over

A state-of-the-art dementia care facility that G&H Building Services delivered with main contractor Caddick Construction has been handed over.

Vida Court in Harrogate spans over 67,000 sq ft and features a wide range of specialist MEP features to best help people living with dementia.

An air exchanger ensures clean air constantly circulates throughout the building and circadian lighting helps residents prepare naturally for sleep and waking by helping maintain regular routines to improve residents’ health and alertness.

MEP services were designed and installed in eight private individual homes catering for 100 residents.

Power, lighting, data, building management system controls, fire and disabled alarms, induction loop, nurse call and lightning protection were installed along with incoming gas and water, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, underfloor heating, above ground drainage, sanitaryware and a sprinkler system.

Senior Contracts Manager at G&H Building Services, David Wilson, said: “Central to this scheme was identifying the right type of services to help residents living with dementia.

“We did this through early engagement with stakeholders to shape the MEP enabling our design department to create tailor-made features that will make the lives of residents as comfortable as possible.

“Despite the scheme being carried out during Covid-19, the programme was delivered on time, thanks to exceptional organisational skills of our and Caddick Construction’s project management teams.”

Vida Court is the latest specialist dementia facility in Vida Healthcare’s portfolio sitting alongside Vida Hall and Vida Grange.

G&H Building Services also provided MEP as part of the integration of high-quality office spaces allowing Vida Healthcare’s headquarters to be relocated into the new site.
