MEP works at £15m Harrogate dementia care home progressing towards completion

Works to create a specialist dementia care home in Harrogate are progressing at rapid pace towards a summer completion.

G&H Building Services is working in partnership with Caddick Construction to deliver the £15 million Vida Court scheme.

In two of the eight zones mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) final fix works have been completed along with the main plant room, some of which is already functional.

Senior Contracts Manager at G&H Building Services, David Wilson, said: “The scheme is being managed extremely well by Caddick Construction which in turn is allowing us to make great progress.

“We are on programme and will start commissioning works in the first two zones in the next couple of weeks ahead of an expected July completion date.

“Once complete, residents, staff and visitors to Vida Court will benefit from the latest MEP features that will create the most comfortable environment possible to provide specialist dementia care.”

Created for Vida Healthcare, the development will accommodate 100 residents in eight independent living houses.

It will also include a collection of communal areas such as a newsagent, coffee shop, cinema, ballroom, sensory gardens and faith room.

G&H is providing contemporary MEP services throughout spanning some 67,000 sq ft including power, lighting, data, building management system controls, fire and disabled alarms, induction loop, nurse call and lightning protection.

Incoming gas and water, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, underfloor heating, above ground drainage, sanitary ware and a sprinkler system will also be installed.

Georgian-inspired designs will be created externally with stone surrounds, horizontal stone bands and a mixture of hole in the wall and bay windows built.
