Large-scale city centre schemes Hudson Quarter and Majestic win built environment awards
Two major city centre schemes that saw G&H Building Services deliver full design and build of mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) works have won prestigious built environment awards.
Hudson Quarter in York and Majestic in Leeds were winners at Insider’s Yorkshire Property Industry Awards 2021 held in the Royal Armouries Museum.
The Residential Development of the Year (more than 50 homes) title was won by Palace Capital for Hudson Quarter while City Square Developments was presented with the Commercial Development of the Year award for Majestic.
G&H Building Services provided complete MEP works for both schemes with Hudson Quarter featuring 127 residential apartments, Grade-A offices and commercial space spanning 162,000 sq ft in total.
The iconic Majestic saw G&H deliver BIM-led services to create prime Grade-A offices with Channel 4’s new national headquarters occupying part of the seven floor building.
Managing Director at G&H Group, Graham Kelly, said: “These are two standout schemes that showcase the very best in modern construction and MEP services – they fully deserved to win their respective awards.
“We work very well with contractors Caddick Construction and Sir Robert McAlpine and from our perspective, we are delighted to have played a part helping them transform two large city centre sites into highly exclusive and desirable facilities.
“Both schemes were delivered in the midst of the pandemic and this is testimony to the main contractors, the efforts made to ensure safety on-site, excellent programme management and the thoroughness of our experienced quality control department.”
Caddick Construction, which G&H Building Services has worked in tandem with on several large-scale projects over the past decade, also won the Contractor of the Year award.
