The G&H Group has won a £2.5 million contract to deliver mechanical and electrical services for US-based Rockwell Collins, a leading provider of communications and aviation electronics solutions for commercial and government customers worldwide.
G&H Group’s contract is with BWI and is the first it has won with the specialist fit out and refurbishment contractor. The work will see a comprehensive category B fit out at Rockwell Collins’ new centre of excellence in Berkshire.
G&H Group will provide full, high specification mechanical and electrical services in the 40,000 sq ft state-of-the-art laboratory and 30,000 sq ft of office space.
Services will include air conditioning, LED lighting and close control temperature systems in server rooms. G&H Group will also co-ordinate the installation of the sprinkler and fire alarm systems and fit steel-lined walls for security systems that meet Ministry of Defence standards.
The work is being carried out as the US giant relocates from its current Reading base to a brand new purpose built facility at Winnersh Triangle, also in Reading.
Once completed, it will enable Rockwell Collins to develop advanced technology particularly in the fields of satellite navigation, networking and other communication systems for governments, aircraft manufacturers and OEMs.
Pre-Construction Director at G&H Group, David Davis, said: “The importance of this work can not be underestimated – Rockwell Collins operates globally and is an approved British defence contractor that plays a vital role in ensuring the world’s safety through its continuous research and development.
“So it is great testimony to our skill and professionalism that we have been appointed to carry out such crucial work.
“The centre of excellence is a genuine state-of-the-art facility and we are providing mechanical and electrical solutions to reflect the development of technology that will be carried out.”
