G&H Sustainability’s innovative work delivering a landmark scheme for Asda has been shortlisted for a coveted national award.
Its scheme at Asda’s £7m superstore in Abbey Lane, Leicester is in line to win the Commercial Rooftop Installation category in the 2014 Solar Power Portal Awards.
The project saw G&H Sustainability install 984 photovoltaic panels using an innovative roof mounting system that provides south facing arrays on both north and south sections.
The approach across 1,625m2 will save Asda 197,538kWh of energy per year.
Managing Director at G&H Sustainability, Andrew Hudson, said: “The Solar Power Portal Awards are revered in the industry across the UK so it’s a great achievement for the business and reflects our standing in the market.
“We won the contract with Asda due to our innovative approach that saw us create a solution to double the sustainable electricity generated by installing panels on northern and southern aspects.
“Providing creative solutions such as this is what the team is rapidly becoming renowned for and why more and more blue chip clients are commissioning us to deliver their renewable technology.”
The shortlisted projects reflect the good practice, professionalism, quality, safety and level of innovation that has catapulted the UK solar industry into one of the top five global PV markets.
G&H Sustainability will learn if it has won the award at a gala dinner ceremony in Birmingham on 8 October.
