G&H Group Smashes £20,000 Fundraising Target

G&H Group has raised £23,695 for five charities through its Charity Championship 2023 initiative, which has seen the company host four fundraising events for staff, suppliers and customers this year.

The Pudsey-based complete mechanical, electrical and public health service provider set out to raise £20,000 this year for Martin House Children’s Hospice, Leeds Bereavement Forum, The Market Place Leeds, Bowel Cancer UK and The British Heart Foundation.

Hosted with the support of G&H Group’s suppliers and Mitsubishi Electric, over 100 people took part in the three Charity Championship events which pitted teams of staff, suppliers and customers against each other in darts, shuffleboard, table tennis and table football.

David Barraclough, supply chain manager at G&H Group, said: “These events have been the perfect combination of fun and fundraising, bringing our team together with our fantastic suppliers and customers, all in aid of charity. The charities chosen all have links to us here at G&H Group and we’re grateful to everyone involved who helped us to smash our target.”

Charlotte Harper, partnerships development manager, Martin House Children’s Hospice said: “G&H Group is such a valued supporter of Martin House, and we are so grateful for their continued commitment to us. Fundraising like this makes a huge difference to the families with seriously ill children that we support across West, North and East Yorkshire. We know that we can’t necessarily increase the days in a child’s life but together, we can increase the life in their days.”

Lisa Mulherin, CEO at The Market Place, said: “Times are really tough for charities like ours, so we are extremely grateful to G&H Group, their staff teams, suppliers and partners for their generous donation. That funding will be used to support our vital emotional and mental health services for young people living and studying in Leeds. Their enthusiasm for charities like ours shone through their fundraising efforts and we’re sure that the fun competitions they used to raise the money will have boosted team spirit and staff wellbeing across their group too.”

Becky Beevers, BHF fundraising manager for West Yorkshire, said: “We are honoured that G&H Group has chosen to support the British Heart Foundation and help fund the scientific breakthroughs of tomorrow. For more than 60 years, the BHF has funded research that has turned ideas that once seemed like ‘science fiction’ into treatments and cures that save lives every day. But millions of people are still waiting for the next breakthrough and it is only thanks to the generous support of companies like G&H Group that we can keep research going and discover the treatments and cures of the future”.

Kathy Paul, finance administrator, Leeds Bereavement Forum  “A massive thank you to Dave Barraclough from G&H Group who has raised an incredible amount for Leeds Bereavement Forum via Just Giving. We are so grateful for this money, which will be used to provide our valuable free bereavement signposting and services to individuals and organisations across Leeds. Times are particularly difficult for the voluntary sector in Leeds at the moment and this amazing donation will make a massive difference to the work we do.”

Luke Squires, director of fundraising at Bowel Cancer UK, says: “We’re so grateful to everyone at G&H Group for choosing Bowel Cancer UK for their Charity Championship, and huge congratulations to them for smashing their fundraising target. Bowel cancer is the UK’s fourth most common cancer, and the second biggest cancer killer but it doesn’t have to be this way as the disease is treatable if diagnosed early. The money raised by the team at G&H Group will help us make more people aware of the signs and symptoms of the disease, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, fund vital research, and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.”

Established in 1998, G&H Group is a market leading mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) provider. Its 180-strong experienced team design, manage, deliver and maintain every aspect of MEP schemes.
