G&H Group outlines future social value approach to support people and communities

G&H Group has outlined its future social value strategy, building on a strong track-record that has seen support and investment given to people, local communities and clubs.

The complete mechanical, electrical and public health service provider has delivered a wide-range of social value initiatives since forming in 1998 and now has a plan in place to deliver more in the years ahead.

In 2022, it delivered several large-scale social value projects including raising £15,000 for three charities: MND Association, Prostate Cancer UK and Leeds Mind.

To support staff further in and out of work, G&H launched its ‘You’re Not Alone’ wellbeing campaign to raise awareness, provide training and offer help where it is needed.

Over £40,000 of services and supplies were gifted to vulnerable women’s charity Getaway Girls as part of BBC DIY SOS’s Big Build project (see photograph below) and the Group received two top-rated grades from the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

G&H Group’s future strategy sees a strong focus on the key elements of training, employment and helping young people into the construction industry.

By co-founding Community Interest Company Building Futures Together (BFT) and creating an in-house training centre, youngsters receive hands-on learning that gives them an insight into the sector while still at school.

It also helps teachers engage better with pupils, prevents young people from adding to the growing number becoming not in education, employment or training (NEET) and provides focus and structure for those in danger of falling into anti-social behaviour or crime.

BFT delivered 675 sessions in 2022 of which, 152 were given to special education needs schools, while 56 people at Wetherby’s HMP Youth Offending Institution attended a 12-week course and 100 hours of sessions were delivered at local community centres.
