G&H employees embrace the Group’s ‘You’re Not Alone’ mental health and wellbeing awareness campaign

Well over 100 G&H employees have taken part in wellbeing sessions to help raise awareness of mental health issues.

A total of eight introductory workshop sessions were held at the Group’s head office in Leeds, at Engineering Services’ specialist prefabrication facility and at its London office.

They were delivered by G&H Group’s Managing Director Graham Kelly alongside Breathing Space HR, which was appointed to deliver the ‘You’re Not Alone’ campaign that started in September.

Graham Kelly said: “Mental health can affect anyone at any time so raising awareness among staff and providing help is really important.

“The introductory sessions were voluntary so we were delighted to see in the region of 120 attending and 16 people sign-up to become Wellbeing Champions with level 2 training received.

“This is a really encouraging start after just a few months of our ‘You’re Not Alone’ campaign but we know breaking down the stigma of mental health issues is an ongoing battle.

“By continually educating, supporting and encouraging people to open up and seek help if they need it or think others do, we will – slowly but surely – make it as commonplace as people reporting physical illnesses.”

G&H Wellbeing Champions are working with Breathing Space HR to create ongoing training and workshop events in 2023 alongside the national health and wellbeing calendar covering a wide range of topics that might affect G&H staff.

This will include, for example, how to help people learn to manage and avoid stress, how to identify and understand anxiety and how to spot signs of mental health illness in others.

General employee wellbeing tips such as financial advice and the benefits of healthy eating, exercise and smoking cessation will be promoted.

Staff also have access to the DevelopME online portal managed by Breathing Space HR as well as being sent regular best practice blog posts.
