Exclusive mixed-use Hudson Quarter scheme completed on programme despite Covid-19
G&H Building Services has completed the MEP works on programme at an ultra-exclusive mixed-use development in the shadow of York Minster despite the coronavirus pandemic.
Appointed by Caddick Construction Limited and delivered for Palace Capital PLC, Hudson Quarter saw G&H Building Services deliver BIM-led design and build of MEP services in four buildings over a two-acre site.
Three residential buildings – named Kings, Waverley and Victoria – provide 127 luxury residences and penthouses over 122,000 sq ft.
The fourth saw a steel framed structured building for Grade-A office space covering 35,000 sq ft with 5,000 sq ft of additional commercial space.
G&H’s services included HVAC; power distribution; underfloor heating; alarms (security, intruder and fire); access controls for blocks and doors; BMS in place across the site linking residential and office areas; and, a wide range of domestic services.
A BREEAM Excellent rating was being targeted and the MEP included a range of sustainable features including 14 twin electric vehicle chargers, heat recovery ventilation, VRF air conditioning, LED lighting with PIR lighting controls and energy monitoring.
Senior Contracts Manager at G&H Building Services, David Wilson, said: “Hudson Quarter was a complex and challenging scheme from MEP design, technical and delivery perspectives.
“Despite Covid-19, which affected the UK in the middle of our works last year, we managed to deliver to the original programme, completing with zero defects in just 15 months.
“This was possible due to our excellent programme management and the organisation of Caddick Construction.”
