G&H Building Services appointed to One City Park scheme in new UK City of Culture
G&H Building Services will design and deliver all the mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) for One City Park – Bradford’s first Grade A office scheme in the city centre for more than 20 years.
The main contractor, Caddick Construction, appointed G&H Building Services in a £4 million contract.
The scheme is being delivered by leading national master developer, Muse, in partnership with Bradford Council.
Construction work is now underway to create a modern, user-friendly office accommodation across four floors with an additional roof terrace.
Spanning over 56,000 sq ft, designs will enable flexible and agile working practices with areas having the option to be subdivided when needed.
G&H Building Services’ work sees a wide range of MEP being installed and designed with the plant room situated on the roof.
Sustainability is at the heart of the work.
Photovoltaic solar roof panels, air source heat pumps, low carbon heating and cooling, low flow water consumption and electric vehicle charging points will all play a key role helping One City Park meet an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating.
Pre-Construction Director at G&H Building Services, David Davis, said: “We expect Bradford to enjoy large scale investment to help regenerate the city centre in the coming years.
“With its new UK City of Culture 2025 status we are delighted to be involved in one of the earliest and largest projects.
“One City Park is a flagship scheme and symbolic of the change of direction the city is heading in with the first Grade A office space for over 20 years being created in a modern, sustainable way.
“Our low carbon MEP work will play an intrinsic role in creating a premium quality commercial offer in the city centre on the doorstep of City Park, the Alhambra and the former Odeon building which is being transformed into a new live music venue for the city.”
Andy Smith, Project Director at Muse, added: “The build programme for One City Park is well underway and the fabric of the building is already becoming a major part of the changing city scape here in Bradford.
“The city is being transformed thanks to a huge amount of investment and regeneration – with more to follow on the back of its UK City of Culture 2025 title.
“It’s this investment – and the delivery of prime office space like One City Park – that will attract the type of businesses that will enhance opportunities for Bradford’s incredible pool of young talent as UK’s youngest city.
“We welcome G&H Building Services to the project team and look forward to working with them to ensure that this building offers the very best sustainable credentials as part of its premium offer in a location brimming with potential.”
The scheme is expected to be completed by summer 2023.
