G&H Building Services appointed by JJ Rhatigan to Strawberry Star Homes’ £280m ‘Lu2on’ scheme

G&H Building Services has been appointed by JJ Rhatigan to the first phase of a £280 million mixed-use development project Lu2on, an award-winning scheme by Strawberry Star Homes in Luton.

The first phase of the scheme sees G&H providing mechanical and electrical works to 401 residential apartments.

JJ Rhatigan is the main contractor for Lu2on.

G&H Building Services will use Revit 3D modelling throughout the project and its work will include electrical heating to apartments, power distribution, fire alarms, heat recovery ventilation, sprinklers and smoke ventilation.

Domestic services and drainage will also be provided.

Managing Director at G&H Building Services, Graham Kelly, said: “This is a significant contract for us and starts our new financial year on a very positive note.

“We have a lot of experience delivering large-scale residential schemes and will design the building services to provide a comfortable and efficient environment for those living in the apartments once completed.

“The scheme on the former Vauxhall site on the town centre’s edge will dramatically transform the area.”

Subsequent stages of the Lu2on project – which is a development by Strawberry Star Homes – will also feature a hotel, public park, a retail and leisure complex, bars and restaurants.

The work is part of Luton’s £1.5 billion investment framework that includes a new football and concert stadium, transformation of London Luton Airport, a 395-acre enterprise zone, improved public transport facilities and expansion of its cultural quarter.
