Over £5,000 raised for St Gemma’s Hospice Leeds by the G&H Group

Over £5,000 has been raised by the G&H Group for St Gemma’s Hospice in Leeds through a series of events.

G&H Building Services’ Contracts Department Manager Paul Churchill organised the fundraising in memory of his late father, David, who passed away in April after a nine-year battle with prostate cancer.

Two raffles were held, one with G&H’s suppliers and local businesses donating a range of prizes including Disney on Ice tickets, Grand Central first-class train tickets to London and a supercar thrill experience.

A special bonus draw was held with a family break to Center Parcs worth £1,500 donated by the G&H Group.

Paul Churchill hosted a meet Santa event at his home by transforming part of it into an Arctic cabin.

G&H Maintenance Director, David Ridsdale, donned a Santa costume and gave presents to children while mulled wine and mince pies were given to guests.

A name the reindeer competition and a cake and bun sale were also held to raise money.

Paul Churchill said: “We are really pleased to have raised £5,107 for St Gemma’s Hospice Leeds and would like to thank all the businesses who supported us and people who gave so generously.

“The work the hospice carries out is incredible and makes a huge difference to people’s lives when they need it most.

“They need all the financial help they can get to keep providing services to those with life-limiting illnesses so we would encourage everyone to help donate if they can.”

Supporting businesses included DataFlow, Meridian, LED, EDSB, Caval, K. Rhodes, Search, B. Irwin, Bennett and Fountain, Thorn, Chrissie at The Brewers Arms, Complementing Beauty, Snaith Dental Care, Melting Moments and Max Spielmann (Wakefield).

St Gemma’s is the largest hospice in Yorkshire and one of the biggest in the UK providing expert care and support for local people with life-limiting illnesses.
