Two G&H schemes shortlisted for RICS Awards 2018, Yorkshire and Humber
Two schemes that saw the G&H Group deliver the design and build of mechanical and electrical services have been shortlisted for Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Awards.
G&H Building Services and G&H Fabrication carried out £2.4 million of BIM-led work for the refurbishment of Hull New Theatre, which has been shortlisted in the ‘regeneration’ category.
The conversion of an existing industrial unit into the new headquarters for Steeper Group saw G&H Building Services deliver £800,000 of mechanical and electrical works.
This scheme has been shortlisted in the ‘commercial’ category.
The Yorkshire and Humber regional awards will be held on May 11 at Leeds United Football Club with winners going on to the national final in London in October.
G&H Group Director, Andrew Hudson, said: “The RICS Awards are among the most prestigious in the construction industry so seeing two schemes that we have worked on being shortlisted is an excellent achievement and recognition for all involved.
“Both schemes presented their own challenges and required a lot of technical expertise.
“We are now looking forward to the awards ceremony and hope the schemes can win not only the regional heat but also nationally in October as they are two projects of the highest quality with bespoke services for the end user.”
Hull New Theatre was a £16 million scheme that saw a new entrance and foyer built featuring hospitality facilities to welcome guests.
The original theatre was fully refurbished and the back stage area received a comprehensive overhaul all while retaining the character of the grade II listed property.
After falling victim to the Christmas floods in 2015, Steeper Group brought its manufacturing and office headquarters together creating a new £2 million start-of-the-art facility for 200 members of staff.
Both schemes were delivered by the main contractor, Sewell Construction.
