Keepmoat appoints G&H Building Services for M&E at £7.6m extra care scheme

G&H Building Services has been appointed to deliver the mechanical and electrical services at a new £7.6 million extra care scheme.

Community regeneration specialist Keepmoat is building a 73-bed facility in Buxton on behalf of Housing and Care 21 and Derbyshire County Council.

It will be made up of 53 two-bedroom extra care apartments and a specialist 20-place residential care centre.

Communal facilities will include a restaurant, salon and health suite.

G&H Building Services has been appointed by Keepmoat in a £1.7 million contract to deliver a full in-house design and install of all mechanical and electrical services.

This will include heating, ventilation, air conditioning, hot water, fire alarms, CCTV, data, small power and gas works.

Director at G&H Building Services, Andrew Hudson, said: “This is a very important scheme given the need to provide more high quality, purpose built extra care facilities to accommodate the UK’s increasingly expanding elderly population.

“It is our first contract with Keepmoat and is a result of the excellent work we have carried out for other large contractors across the UK.

“We actively participate in scheme concepts taking on shared risk at the earliest stages of the tendering process to provide the best value for the client.

“We then manage the building services process from initial designs to installation onsite.”

G&H Building Services is due to finish its work by the end of the year.

Once completed, Housing and Care 21 – a leading provider of retirement housing for older people mainly those aged 65 and over – will manage the property and Derbyshire County Council will provide 24/7 onsite care services.
