G&H completes ibis Styles and Marco’s New York Italian Restaurant and Bar scheme

JSM_5516G&H Building Services has completed a comprehensive mechanical and electrical (M&E) scheme for the new ibis Styles Hotel and a Marco Pierre White restaurant and bar in Leeds.

The scheme by Town Centre Securities is the latest addition to the regeneration of the Merrion Centre in the Arena Quarter of the city.

GMI Construction appointed G&H Building Services in a £2.5 million scheme that took 26 weeks to complete.

Lighting, access controls, CCTV, music systems, fire alarms, television access controls and a large scale Building Management System to control all services were installed as part of the electrical works.

Mechanical services included air conditioning in all 134 rooms, heat recovery units, air handling units and a traditional sanitary ware installation to each bathroom.

M&E services were also provided for the 80-cover Marco’s New York Italian Restaurant and Bar across 4,000sq ft.

Contracts Manager at G&H Building Services, Paul Churchill, said: “This was a complex scheme given we were working in an existing building structure, large numbers of shoppers were using the adjacent Merrion Centre and we couldn’t use a crane to transport the air handling units onto the roof.

“The end result is a hotel and restaurant that have the latest mechanical and electrical features for the many visitors this redeveloped part of Leeds will attract in the years ahead.”
