G&H Building Services completes M&E design and build at new primary school

G&H Building Services has completed the design and build of the mechanical and electrical services at a new primary school in West Yorkshire.

Fairburn View Primary School in Castleford was built by Kier Construction who commissioned G&H Building Services in a £800,000 contract.

The new school formed following the merger of Redhill Infants and Redhill Junior Schools.

The 2,400sqm school is now used by 420 pupils, 39 nursery children, teachers and staff.

The work saw G&H Building Services provide electrical services included switchboards, distribution boards, interior, exterior and emergency lighting, small power, fire alarm, door entry intercom, door access, CCTV, electrical supplies for mechanical services, testing and commissioning and O&M manuals.

Mechanically, the domestic services, a LTHW heating system, above ground drainage, sanitary ware, ventilation systems, flues, natural ventilation systems, natural gas, testing and commissioning, BMS controls, refrigeration and thermal insulation were designed, supplied and installed.

Director at G&H Building Services, Andrew Hudson, said: “This project required extensive liaison onsite and offsite with the client so we could deliver services that will create the best school environment possible.

“It is now a high class, modern facility conducive to teaching and learning.

“As well as the work on the new facility, we also assisted with the demolition of the old school, isolating mains power, cold water and gas supplies.”
