Mechanical and electrical design and build completed for City of York Council’s new community hub

G&H Building Services has completed the mechanical and electrical design and build for The Centre@Burnholme in York.

Managed by Explore York Libraries and Archives, it features a library and reading café, learning spaces, local history services, community meeting rooms for hire, a nursery, conference room and main hall.

The project saw the former Burnholme Community College site transformed and a new extension added to provide modern services for residents in the Tang Hall area as part of York City Council’s wider masterplan that includes housing, care, health and sport facilities.

Community groups including York Community Church and social enterprise Tang Hall SMART – which offers services for adults with learning difficulties – have a permanent residency.

Appointed by the main contractor, Sewell Construction, our role saw us manage and lead the M&E aspect of the build process to create bespoke services for visitors, staff and volunteers alike.

Our full M&E package including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, underfloor heating, hot water, domestic water, sprinkler system, lighting including feature lighting, fire alarms, CCTV, door access, security, data, small power, induction loop, BMS controls and gas works.
