Approved Electrician

Role

We are looking for an experienced Approved Electrician to join G&H Building Services and work nationally across a range of sectors.


Responsibilities

  • Provide practical, productive and electrical engineering skills to deadline in an economical and efficient manner
  • Deliver work independently without the need for supervision
  • Set out jobs from drawings and specifications and request the necessary installation materials
  • Accept responsibility for the completion of schemes to the highest standards
  • Continuous liaison and reporting to the M&E Manager
  • Ensure all deadlines are met to the highest standard
  • Liaise with all companies and relevant personnel in the G&H Group

Criteria

  • A registered apprentice or undergone some equivalent method of training and have had practical training in electrical installation work
  • Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Installation Buildings & Structures) or the Level 3 NVQ diploma in Installing Electrotechnical systems and equipment (buildings, structures and the environment) – or approved equivalent
  • Level 3 technical certificate relevant to the NVQ either as part of the NVQ diploma or as a separate qualification such as the City & Guilds 2330 Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology (or approved equivalent)
  • Level 3 technical certificate relevant to the NVQ either as unit accreditation to the NVQ Diploma or as a separate qualification such as the City & Guilds 2330 Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology (or approved equivalent)
  • Two years experience working as an Electrician subsequent to the satisfactory completion of training and immediately prior to the application for this grade
  • Must have demonstrated competence in Inspection and Testing and obtained:
    • NET Advanced Assessment of Competence (AAC)
    • Level 3 Certificate in the Certification of Electrical Installations (inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations) or:
    • Both the Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations and the Level 3 Award in the Periodic, Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations
  • Thorough working knowledge of:
    • National Working Rules for the Electrical Contracting Industry
    • Current IET Wiring Regulations for Electrical Installations
    • Electricity Safety, Quality & Continuity Regulations as amended (so far as they deal with consumers’ installations)
    • Regulations dealing with consumers’ installations which may be issued
    • Relevant statutory and British standards and Codes of Practice
    • Construction Industry Safety Regulations
  • Flexible attitude to balance work loads and deadlines
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Applicants must hold a driving licence
